Sound you feel in your chest. A picture that stops a room. For 45+ years, Sounds Unlimited has been turning rooms into experiences across Danville and beyond. We're looking for a craftsman who takes pride in doing it right — and wants their work to matter.
We're not a churn-and-burn install shop. We're a family-run team that's been doing this the right way since 1978 — and we want someone who's in it for the craft, not just the clock.
Founded by Bucky Buckner and still run like a family. Your name is on every job — and so is ours.
Hands-on mentorship, manufacturer training, and the time to do it right. We sweat the details others skip.
Work with the best in the business — 4K laser projection, Dolby Atmos, Savant, Control4 and more.
Family movie nights, packed sanctuaries, a car that finally sounds incredible. You make those moments happen.
Danville, VA · Full-Time
No two days look the same. One morning you're calibrating a dedicated home theater so the first frame gives a family chills. That afternoon you're dialing in a church sound system so every seat hears every word. You're the person who turns a pile of high-end gear into something that just works — and looks clean doing it.
You'll thrive here if you'd rather take an extra hour to hide a cable than leave it sloppy, you light up when a system finally sings, and a handshake at the end of a job means something to you.
Here's what a real Tuesday can look like on our crew.
The crew walks the day's jobs together, checks the racks and gear staged the night before, and loads the van. Questions get answered before you roll, not on the client's driveway.
Projector goes up, screen gets squared to the millimeter, and speaker wire disappears into the walls. The homeowner keeps peeking in — that's the fun part.
New wireless mics and a PTZ camera for the livestream. You walk the volunteer team through the board until they're running it themselves — and you see the relief on their faces.
Van restocked, tomorrow staged, notes logged. You leave on time knowing two more rooms in town sound better than they did this morning — because of you.
You don't need every line below — but the must-haves are must-haves. The rest tells us where you'll start and how fast you'll grow.
We invest in the people who carry our name onto every job site.
Based on your experience and skill — with room to earn more as you grow.
Manufacturer certifications and hands-on mentorship to sharpen your craft.
Vacation and holidays — because life off the job site matters too.
A clear path to lead installer and beyond — we promote from within.
Supportive crew, shared pride in the work, and people who have your back.
The right equipment to do the job right — no fighting broken tools.
We promote from within — every step here is one somebody on a crew like ours has climbed.
Learn the trade hands-on: cable runs, mounting, rack building. No AV experience required — just good hands and hustle.
Run installs start to finish — theaters, churches, businesses. Manufacturer training and certifications on us.
Run the job site and the crew. You're the name clients ask for and the standard the work is measured against.
Design the systems, scope the projects, walk the blueprints — the craft moves from your hands to your head.
I started this company in 1978 with one rule: do the work like your name is on it — because it is. I'm not looking for someone to fill a seat. I'm looking for someone who hears the difference, and cares enough to chase it.
No black holes, no six-round interviews. Here's the whole process.
A real person on Bucky's team reviews every application. No software screens you out.
If it looks like a fit, we call for a short, honest conversation — your story, our work, your questions.
Meet the crew, see the gear, get a feel for how we work. You're interviewing us too.
If we both feel it, you get a straight offer — pay, schedule, start date. Then we get to work.
No. Experience helps, but we've trained plenty of great installers from scratch. If you're good with your hands, take pride in neat work, and want to learn a real trade, apply and tell us that in your application.
Absolutely. We started as a car audio shop in 1978, so we have a soft spot for 12-volt folks. Wiring discipline, fabrication skills, and job-site sense all transfer directly to home, church, and commercial AV work.
No — we supply the equipment to do the job right. If you have hand tools you love, bring them, but you won't be buying your way into this job.
It's a full-time role based out of our Danville shop. Most work is daytime on local job sites, with the occasional bigger church or commercial project that takes some travel within the region.
Quickly. Applications go straight to the team — not into a database — and if it's a fit we usually reach out within a few days for a phone call.
If the work above sounds like you, we'd genuinely love to meet you. The application takes just a few minutes — and a real person on our team reads every single one.
